“He looks sort of cranky. Maybe he should take a nap.”
That’s what my daughter had to say after seeing … maybe you’d like to guess first. I’ll show you who below the fold.
Godzilla!
I’ve had Godzilla on the brain lately. I first saw a Godzilla movie when I was a little boy, and I’ve been a fan ever since. And this year, a new, big budget Hollywood Godzilla appears. Better still, unlike the travesty from 1998, it looks like they’re doing it right this time!
When I was very small, we took a trip to visit relatives in the DC area. One evening they took us on a trip to see the incomplete Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It’s a suspension bridge, and at that time a big chunk of the roadway hadn’t been completed, leaving a large gap. I asked, with that perfect obliviousness that only children can muster, “Did Godzilla do that?!”
Decades later … see the one minute mark for the stuff little boys nightmares are made of!

Two other things.
First, I’ve noticed in the trailers that Godzilla often appears when clouds are overhead. (Not always, but usually.) It creates a nice feeling of claustrophobia. Not only are such monsters out there, but you’re trapped in a room with them!

Second, this new Godzilla movie looks like Die Hard … on a planet!

And just in case anyone here doesn’t know, here’s a description of the “”Die Hard on a _____” formula.
