Well, I laughed. Having not seen this before, I could hardly believe my ears and was hooked at “statue of big dog with fleas”.
Here, at this domicile, the two tuna demanders are continually awaiting the arrival of the “trit train”, hoping the big engine will steam into the station on time and piles of tasty trits will be flung from the door like so many sacks of mail to land with satisfying thumps onto their platform plates. How it came to be “trits” instead of treats and involve a train, I’ll never know. Cats not only take over the house as if they had a key and the deed, they slowly and mysteriously impose their will on the one who let them walk in until that person finds themselves doing and saying unusual and inexplicable things on their behalf.

When someone pulls the cloying “pet parent” meme on me, I draw myself up to my full height and say, “I am NOT their MOM. I am their SLAVE.”

““I am NOT their MOM. I am their SLAVE.”” — there’s a kind of Stockholm syndrome going on here…
