Just Checking In…
Just to let you all know…I’ve been a bit out of the loop due to illness. And now, with extra leg edema! Nearly everything is going poorly, except things at gym. I’m getting better at the various exercises, and I’m enjoying the stressing of myself without the fear of dropping a barbell on my foot!
Hmmm….there is some weight loss, also.
My friend and daily confidante Amy Moyle will be visiting soon…Hopefully, we can have a bit of fun when she arrives.
I miss you all very much, and cannot wait until I am freed from this horrible situation!

Not dropping hard, heavy objects on one’s feet is a definite good thing.
I’m sure someone has told you, but weight loss isn’t the sole metric to be applied. If you’re gaining muscle mass but losing fat, that is a good thing. That might not show up as weight loss even though it is a significant improvement. Over time you will hopefully feel that improvement in strength, and indeed it sounds like you are already feeling the difference.

Ron, I’m sorry to hear you are sick. Hope you are on the mend. What are you taking for your edema?
Was it you who recommended Gogol’s Dead Souls? I’m reading it now and, wow! It’s a kick! The character Chichikov reminds me [again!] of Ignatius from Confederacy of Dunces. Perhaps Toole derived his inspiration from this novel. At any rate, it’s my kind of novel. Thank you much!
PS: If it was someone else who recommended it, then thank YOU! ;-)

MockT is reading a book w/a character named Chichikov &i’m re-reading the ~Harry Potter~ series for the umpteenth time.
Ron, you are growing in grace, my friend. You may be facing the lion’s maw, but you sound positive and strong. You’ll have so much more energy and defeat the depressive aspects of life(something about endorphins:0))just by moving. I am trying to convince myself that i have to move around more– i have put on a layer of.. softness, shall we say. I was called ~Stringbean~ all through graded school by everyone in my class and it was ~Beam~ in HS by my closer friends. Now– i’m a melon.
You inspire me, Ron.
Tomorrow i start moving. A walk up the hill in the pasture & i’ll let you know…
if i actually do it.

Five days later….I still have the edema….and will be getting stronger drugs to deal with it. I had a sonogram of my heart….which is in better shape than I would have thought…. Yes, mockturtle, that was you and I discussing Gogol….glad you like it so much!
Thanks for being a good friend Karen; I’m not out of the woods just yet. Major things have to occur….but I am glad you are here to talk.

What I meant, specifically, are your labs, e.g., creatinine & BUN.
