I know this is CatVille…but this is for the DogPeople….If you can’t get your puppy to do this, Elanor Powell does it for you… nice ending!

Cute dog but Powell stole the scene. The dog should have fired his agent. ;-)

Dog people vs. cat people: Can a person be both? I’ve had both dogs and cats all my life but after finding out I was horribly allergic to cats, we did not replace our 18-year old Daphne when she died of a stroke. Both dogs and cats are so special! :-) Are there personality traits unique to owners of each?

Thanks! I’ve never seen this clip before and Powell is quite a tapper gymnast. I’ll bet she was Astaire’s favorite. Is the dog related to Uggie?
I’ve had strong emotional attachments to a cat and a dog, but think I’d consider myself a dog person — they’re more empathetic.

Powell and Astaire did one film together…She was the only of Fred’s partners to bring her own choreography to the pair, as she was a pretty big star for MGM in the 30’s. She wound up poorly treated by them, kinda starting with this film! She also trained the dog herself!

To be able to train a dog so well– that’s the real gift. The tap is just the frosting on the cake! How do you know so much about the history of these films, Ron? How long has the study of the old great artists interested you?

Dog or cat? Both, much to my own regret, @ times. They are a lot of work!!

Karen, I don’t think I have that much old film history knowledge! Believe me, there’s a lot of people who know this stuff backwards and forwards!

I really got into my Fred and Ginger interest only about 10 years ago….related to a project with friends back then!

Now, the web is filled with deep resources about old Hollywood…an example is this site: http://caroleandco.wordpress.com/ a site dedicated to Carol Lombard, who passed away in a plane crash in 1942.

Just poking around leads to more poking around…hence, knowledge builds up!…

Oh, BTW, Sunday, TCM will be showing Ginger all day… dance films and more!
