Fabulous pic! Your parents should co-write a book on how to stay vibrant and fully engaged!

The more I hear about your parents, the more they remind me of my mother. Afew years ago, at 90, she was temporarily in a nursing home for rehab (broken hip). She croggled the staff by the steady stream of friends (of a wide variety of agest, ethnicities, etc.) who came by to see her. As opposed to the usual resident, who maybe saw a family member once a week.

    Her two main complaints?

    1) no Internet access

    2) all the “old people” there — most of whom, be it noted, were 20+ years younger than she was.

I was particularly taken by the comment about “old people,” because it put something in perspective. In her mind “old people” (of whatever calendar age) were those who were no longer engaged with life, and had minimal interest in what was going on in the world around them.

On that definition, none of us are required to ever become “old people”. We can just go on being young and interested people, who happen to have a wealth of experience to go with it. I can live with that!
