    It doesn’t surprise me in the least. I see errors like that every day in publications, newspaper headlines and business cards. When I was young I was a proofreader in a newsroom for a time and I’ll wager we sent out far fewer errors than we see nowadays with all the spell-check devices.

    Spellchecker: it’s made us all lazy about proof-reading stuff before we send it out.

    But the worst are the ones which “helpfully” replace the word you deliberately used with what it thinks you should have used — without asking. And that goes double when there is no provision for expanding the software’s vocabulary beyond that of a not-too-bright 6th grader.
